This one wasn’t my choice but my brothers but I picked the screening. It was a special showing put on as a fundraiser for Carlow Mental Health Association. It was a full house and because I don’t do well in crowds, it made me a little uncomfortable. But it was for a good cause so I tried to grin and bear it! The ticket cost €10 and it covered the cinema ticket, a drink, crisps, pick n mix sweets and fruit, your choice. There was a speech by the cinema manager aka Husband, the organiser Susan, and the chair of the association. Then it got really uncomfortable. There are 2 words that are guaranteed to make me squirm in a public place. Audience participation. Our newly elected mayor led us in a clappy, dancy, Icelandic soccer thing that I still don’t understand, to the beat of Pharrell Williams Happy. I have never been so uncomfortable or mortified in my whole entire life!!! It was not pleasant! Stupid good causes!
