It was something a little different this week in Omniplex Carlow. This week I went to see Romeo and Juliet live from the Garrick in London. Yes I did go to the cinema to see a live theatre production on a stage. Not the usual thing you see in the cinema but it’s a concept that is really taking off. And personally I think it’s a grand idea!!

So back to business! It was directed by Kenneth Branagh and starred Richard Madden as Romeo, Lily James as Juliet and the fabulous Derek Jacobi as Mercutio. It was set in the 1950’s and broadcast to cinemas in black and white. It was very classy with the height of Italian style! I’m sure you know the story. Boy meets girl, fall in love, discover their parents fight like cats and dogs, get married in secret, complications arise and they live happily ever after…. After they both commit suicide.
